We have 30 pupils from Years 5 and 6 in our class. Mr Gardiner teaches on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Ms Catchpole teaches on Wednesday mornings and all day on Thursday and Friday. As we prepare for the SATs tests in May, Mr Carter and Miss Way will also be teaching us English and Maths on some days. Mr Herd teaches us PE on Tuesday afternoons. Mrs Sanders teaches Spanish on Wednesday mornings. Mrs Anderson is our main Teaching Assistant with Mrs Want helping for some lessons too.
Welcome to the summer term in Yew Class. This term we will be studying a wide variety of topics and themes across all the subjects including the South West USA, Light and Humanism. Please see this term's curriculum newsletter for more details. We will also be joining in with lots of extra curricular activities like sports day and our end of year production.
Our main PE day is Tuesday when Mr Herd and Mr Gardiner will lead a double session. We will also be participating in other special PE events like sports day.

A warm hat and gloves in cold weather.
A sun hat during in hot weather.
All stationery is provided so you do not need a pencil case.
Effective feedback involves a dialogue between teachers and learners to identify what has been done well and the next steps to learning. Pupils are regularly given verbal feedback about their work and areas to work on. Where appropriate, we use pink highlighting to identify where we are Tickled Pink that the Success Criteria (expectations set out at the start of the lesson) have been achieved. Green highlighting identifies a next step (Green for Growth). Children are also encouraged to self-edit and correct or improve something using their purple polish pen. For more information, please do ask your child.
In Yew Class we take pride in our work and we make sure that certain things are always correct.

This is a slight change to the dates publishe d earlier in the year as there will now be a Bank Holiday on Monday 8th May to celebreate the coronation of King Charles III. We will be preparing the children for the tests in a measured way throughout the year so that they feel confident with the style and manner of the tests as well as the curriculum content.
